The Runaways
So just out of curiosity I decided to rent and watch The Runaways starring an all grown up Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart from Twilight. It was interesting to see the history of Rock and Roll and what roles females played in the 1970’s. Back then it was almost unheard of to have an all girl band, until the group “The Runaways” came into the music scene and broke that rule. Even though their success lasted for only a few years, it still left a mark in the music industry and has influence many with that “girl power” bad ass attitude. The first person that come to mind was Rihanna and her new Rock and Roll image. Overall, I thought the movie was good and for anyone that is into Rock, the movie is a must see.

New Ish: Cee-Lo Green’s “No One’s Gonna Love You”

Cee-Lo Green of Gnarls Barkley, brought us the mega hit “Crazy” and he has done it again on a solo project. Watch and listen as Cee-Lo Green cover’s the Band of Horses’ “No One’s Gonna Love You”. This single is off his forthcoming album “Cee-Lo Green Is the Lady Killer”, out August 9. I think he did a stellar job and I’m in serious like with the video; from the plot, the way it was shot and the song. It was all very well done.
I’m so excited for his album and can’t wait for it to drop.

Hip Hop in Oshawa?
So a couple of weeks ago, Joe Budden performed live in Oshawa at Karma nightclub. The real highlight of the night was the opening supporting acts. It was really good to see local talents performing which supports my belief that we have amazing and gifted people living right here in Toronto. The group that I would have to say did an amazing job was 8Bit. Their flow was incredible and they got the crowd right into their music. Take a look at some of the pictures from the event. For more information on this group and to listen to their mix-tape, visit their website at www.threwourframes.blogspot.com.
