Movie Review: The Runaways

So just out of curiosity I decided to rent and watch The Runaways starring an all grown up Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart from Twilight. It was interesting to see the history of Rock and Roll and what roles females played in the 1970’s. Back then it was almost unheard of to have an all girl band, until the group “The Runaways” came into the music scene and broke that rule. Even though their success lasted for only a few years, it still left a mark in the music industry and has influence many with that “girl power” bad ass attitude. The first person that come to mind was Rihanna and her new Rock and Roll image. Overall, I thought the movie was good and for anyone that is into Rock, the movie is a must see.

Movie Review: Mortal Kombat Trailer

I just recieved this crazy trailer for the Mortal Kombat movie featuring Michael Jai White but the only thing is this movie may never come out.
The trailer directed by Kevin Tancharoen (Fame and MTV-reality show Dancelife) wants Warner Bros to buy his idea and I think that it will be a great idea. Although the movie depiction is dark the cinematography from this 8 min clip is enough to make me pay 10 bucks to watch the movie.

A petition is going around to allow Tancharoen to direct the movie. What do you think??

Movie Review: Sex and the City 2

Glamour, check.
Fashion, check.
Hot men, check.
Sex, check.

This weekend Urban Amore went out to see Sex and the City 2. The two hour film was a continuation of the ladies, Charlotte, Samantha, Miranda and Carrie and how they have coped with life two years later.

I thought the movie was very enjoyable and is definitely a must see. Check out the movie review below

Movie Review: Just Wright

This is my movie review on the romantic comedy “Just Wright” starring Queen Latifah and Common.

I know I would do a video post but because I have other video posts I thought just writing it wouldn’t be so bad.

I found time in my hectic schedule to sit down and watch another black movie. Was it what I expected…..well yah. I feel like the extended trailers told me the whole movie and obviously from the poster you can determine what happens in the end…Latifah gets Common.

I like Latifah’s character (Leslie) she was that fun loving homegirl that would be any man’s dream. Her weave was on point (lol) and she showed honesty and vulnerability that is a lot different from the lovey movies that I would usually watch. She didn’t try to get the attention of the male lead and just let things happen.

Common’s character (Scott) was a typical image that you would expect for a basketball player and couldn’t help but fall in love with the beautiful Paula Patton (Morgan). Although an extremely toned Common looked weird to me, he did a great job playing a pro baller against the likes of Dwayne Wade and Dwight Howard.

Actors Phylicia Rashad and Pam Grier aged gracefully and did great a job playing the mothers in the movie and Paula Patton did a great job playing the self centered, gold digger God sister.

The movie is no “Love and Basketball” but it is something that I would rent when I’m home alone and feeling a bit mushy.

I give the movie ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ out of 10
