Import Expo at Mosport
On Sunday I attended Import Expo at Mosport International Raceway in Clarington. It was my first time attending the event and I must stay it was a site to see.
People can get very creative when it comes to their cars as I saw cars that I would have never dreamed off. I arrived to the event mid-way, so the races on the track were just finishing up.
This event is definitely an event for car enthusiasts to check out, or even if you don’t know much about cars, they still have some head-turning displays. Check out our pictures from the event on our Flickr. Don’t miss out on this next summer!

Toronto Jazz Festival 2010

The Toronto Jazz Festival has come and gone, marking yet another year of success. All across Toronto at Woodbine Beach, Nathan Phillips Square, Yonge and Dundas just to name a few locations, the city was infused with the sweet sounds of Jazz.
I was lucky enough to catch one of the final events this weekend, which featured the Quebecois Jazz trio The Lost Fingers, Multi Grammy winner and soul diva Chaka Khan and the infectious Macy Gray.
Though this was a free event the artists did not water down their performances as each act had the audiences on their feet!

The Lost Fingers thrilled us with their cool sounds, delivering smooth reinventions to classics like Michael Jackson’s Billy Jean.
Chaka Khan wowed us with her vocal prowess teasing the audience with her rifts and runs. She sang many songs from her long repertoire which included “Through the Fire”. Before she sang this song she got real with the audience encouraging them not to be discouraged whenever they were faced with challenges or setbacks. But, to remain steadfast, pray and have trusting faith in God. She also treated us with an encore performance of “I’m Every Woman”. This sent shrills and cheers across the crowd as we were all patiently waiting for her to deliver. The performance brought the house down and as I’m sure many will recall it for some time to come.

The evening was put to bed by the enigmatic Macy Gray. She interacted warmly with the audience sending the Three Thousand strong crowd into cheers as she joked that her three children were and could be much louder. She performed many songs from her new album “The Sellout”, including current single “Beauty In the World”.
She also sang “I Try to Say Goodbye”, the song that made her an international recording artist. This song brought back vivid memories for many. One of her die-hard fans remarked that she had waited over 10 years to see Macy live in Toronto. Needless to say, the song sent her and many others into a frenzy.

Overall, I enjoyed myself and I am grateful to Toronto Jazz Festival for producing such a great event. I love that they make aspects of the week-long event accessible to many, enabling Torontonians from all walks the chance to enjoy the sweet sounds of Jazz music through the day and well into the night.
